GARETH Quayle won two out of three races to take the overall honours in the Manx Grass and Sand Racing Club's curtain-raiser to the 2007 season at Scarlett, near Castletown, in the south of the Isle of Man, on Sunday.
He trailed Barry Kinley and resident Geordie James Wright in the opening race on the flat Stubblefield coastal venue, but bounced back to win the remaining two and snatch the overall by a single-point from leading Island trials rider Kinley.
TT-ace Chris Heath finished runner-up in Adult B to Michael Whittaker in Group B, though it was ex-Quad rider, Glenn Hargreaves, who really shone with a first, second and a poor second race after a fall.
Sporting the biggest ever field of Quads for an event on the Isle of Man, Kevin Coole scored two wins and a second to beat race two winner Juan Knight, with recently crowned Centre champion, Jamie Corkish, third.
Dayle Collister was another rider to post two wins from three starts in Youth 125cc, but it was first all the way for comeback rider David Pearce in the Big-wheel 85cc class, Ben Rice in Small-wheel and Callan Cooper in Junior 65cc.
Lee Dentith topped the Auto class with a slender three-point margin from Tom Moffatt, with Sophie Heath a good third.
