The GBXC series swings into action next weekend, on March 13. The Sweet Lamb Rally Complex in Mid Wales is a fantastic new venue for the series and will host the series opener, which has traditionally been very well supported.

Entires are already rolling in at quite a rate and there are some very good riders entered in each class. Tom Sagar, Lee Edmondson and Aussie sensation Ben Burrell will all be in attendance as part of the Fast Eddy team alongside other top riders.

This season the GBXC series is shaping up to be the best ever as interest in the Pro and Expert classes has increased and these will be a very competitive class along with the super-competitive Veterans class.

Sweet Lamb is the perfect venue for this time of year. It has a huge amount of hard-standing parking for trucks and vans and an equally huge course for riders.

The track will utilise a handful of the fire roads and many of the off-road tracks already in existence at the venue plus several small but technical quarry sections, which will add balance to the course for the more technical riders.

Paul Edmondson is planning a 15 to 20-minute lap, with the paddock and pits situated at its centre, which will flow fast and smooth through the surrounding hills.

Paul is planning a relatively simple course but one which will ease riders into the GBXC season without trashing bikes or riders, but will offer a few technical elements between the rolling hill sections.

Paul Edmondson: "This venue is cracking! It is perfect for a ‘start of season event'. The Fast Eddy team is already planning the course, which will be easy on bikes but will be fast and flowing with several technical sections thrown in for good measure.

"There is good access to the hard-standing paddock and pits area and the course will be something special for the first round with the vast area of land we have to choose from.

"There is something for everyone from Pro to Youth riders and every class in between. Sweet Lamb is a fantastic venue and we will be spoiled for choice in where we go with the course but it will be worthy of the GBXC series, that's for sure.

"We have kept the entry fee at a very reasonable £40, and spectating and camping is free. The first event of the series is always a cracker and with this venue I can see the 2011 series getting off to a great start.”

The postcode for the venue is SY18 6SY at Llanidloes, Powys. For more information go to the website – gbxc.co.uk – or call 01543-370070.
