Low and behold it's the BYMX riders...

The penultimate round of this year's Express Insurance BYMX championship series will take place this weekend July 31/Aug 1 at Lower Gelt Farm, Brampton. The meeting as usual will be hosted by the excellent East Cumbria MCC.
Over the previous two rounds Albie Wilkie has stolen a march on his main two Championship rivals Taylor Hammal and Keenan Hird in the Junior division. This time around in East Cumbria ten year old Albie will be keen once again to maintain his advantage as he begins to think about winning the title. Elsewhere in the section James McFayden, Jake Edey Alexander Brown, Dan Bewley and Jed Etchells will also be looking for another podium finish as they all strive to improve their Championship lot.
In the Small-wheel 85cc section following a season of battling performances on circuits that have been largely unfamiliar Josh Gilbert, to his massive credit, still leads the way in the Championship chase. Robert Yates is in second position just three points adrift but the biggest challenge may well come from Oliver Osmaston and Conrad Mewse as they pile on the pressure with both boys now eyeing up the crown. Jay Lamb will be yet another powerhouse performer in Cumbria and in with a real chance of claming the overall if he can reproduce his best form of the previous two rounds. Also don't discount ACU academy runner Sid Evans as with a bit of the luck that seems to have deserted him of late he too could well be standing on one of the higher steps of the podium come Sunday afternoon.
The chase for the Big-wheel 85cc title could well be all filtering down into a two horse race between the section leader Adam Sterry and Ben Watson. Adam has been in the best form of his life all season with the added bonus of super consistency while Ben has suffered from a catalogue of machine problems that have disrupted his blistering form. With 11 points separating the pair at the top it means Ben has to win the final two rounds if he wants to be absolutely sure of taking the crown. Jack Kelly is currently third in the standings followed by James Harrison and Liam Garland - all three guys are Honda 150F mounted and they are all well capable of snatching the overall win in Cumbria such is the total competitiveness of the division.
In the Youth Open class Connor Walkley holds the most commanding lead of all with a clear 30 point cushion over second placed Nathan Watson, Tom Kelly is a further seven points behind with Gary Sharp in fourth 44 points off the top spot. Following what was a "moral”overall win at Finningley Gary Sharp is sure to be a man on a mission out to claim his first actual BYMX overall win on what is another of his favourite sand circuits. Luke Norris also performed magnificently at the previous round and he along with Jake Millward, Ryan McLean and Jake Gowan will also be looking for yet another good points scoring weekend.
Brampton will also see the Adult Two-stroke riders in action once again as they battle it out in round four of the 125/250cc championship.
