With all the deck-chairs packed away and sand filled sandwiches a distant memory it must be time for the QRA to head to the seaside for one of its popular Beachcross weekends.

In the last few years the end of season event has taken place at Ramsgate, but this October the event moves to neighbouring Margate.

The weekend of October 26/27 is the date set for the ninth QRA Margate International Beachcross weekend for Adult Solo, Adult and Elite Youth Quads and Side By Side Buggies, all competing in six point-scoring races.

So once again competitors, their families and car loads of supporters will head to the Kent seaside resort from all across the UK and Northern Europe.

The event attracts thousands of people on to the seafront to witness the colourful, action-packed racing on the golden Margate sands and the Thanet District Council, Island Events, local traders and residents have all welcomed the event back with open arms.

Organiser Tony Nash is obviously a happy man; "It's great to be back with the QRA Margate Beach Cross weekend.

This event is not just important to the town of Margate and the Thanet area, but also to our sport.

The months of planning are all falling into place and it's great to have the support of the local traders and the council authorities who have been so accommodating towards the event and working with Roy Barton and the MCFederation.

"We are really looking forward to another cracking weekend”

The track construction gets underway during the week leading up to the event with the help of plant machinery from Ovenden's Plant Hire.

Several changes are being made to the layout and general construction of the dry sandy beach.

Action gets underway at 10am on both days.

The event is backed up with stalls, trade stands and the town of Margate old and new with its many shops, restaurants, cafes, bars and the new Turner Centre.

There are special functions for competitors on both the Friday and Saturday evenings planned as well.

The weekend at Margate also concludes the 2013 QRA MCF British Beachcross Championship, so not only is the event a stand alone event worthy of attending for competitors, it is also the final round of the championship.

Riders wishing to enter the event can do so online at www.margatebeachcross.com or www.qrauk.com
