FRESH off the back of its fabulous makeover, Foxhill Moto Park welcomes the seventh and final round of the Wulfsport British Masters Motocross series into its hallowed valley this weekend, September 6/ 7, and with fate of the Premier Pro Open class title on a knife edge the famous former GP venue is the perfect setting for what is set to be a showstopping season finale. Just 11 measely points seperate the three series front-runners with the two final Pro class motos to run and with a potential 100 points on offer to a double race winner it is going to be a fascinating days' spectating to see who comes out on top.
Mark Hucklebridge currently tops the tables on his MotoExtreme Kawasaki, an even ten points in front of Pioneer Yamaha team leader Wayne Smith, who in turn is just one point ahead of STR Honda's Jordan Rose. Newly crowned British Open champ Smith was the main man last time out at Hawkstone Park with a resounding double win that moved him right into contention for the title and on paper he is the man to beat. Whether he can make up the points needed on Hucklebridge to snatch a second title this season, or whether Rose can too, is another matter. As we all know though in motocross anything can, and often does, happen and nothing is certain.
Throw into the mix the likes of on-form Nev Bradshaw, resurgent late entry Gordon Crockard and Mark Jones and the racing on the day looks set to be fantastic and the race for the championship nail-biting.
Things are slightly more clear cut in the Pro 125 class where Bradshaw has put his DB Honda into a 32 point lead over PAR Honda's Shane Carless and a massive 91 points on Relentless Suzuki's Lewis Gregory. Barring any mecahincal misfortunes or such like it is going to be a two-horse race and you would expect the experienced Bradshaw to come out on top. The distinct possibility that the notoriously mud-prone Foxhill track could be a tad on the damp side could also play a big part in the outcome of the weekends action.
The weekends' Pro class action will as always be backed-up by two full days of Amateur and Youth class racing where the star of the Amateur Open class season, Thomas Batty, looks set to secure the class championship in style. The Amateur 125 class meanwhile will be a fight to the death like the Pro Open class as Jack Taylor and James Shaw are still seperated by only seven points, and with four motos to decide the fate of the championship this is going to one to watch.
All the action at Foxhill kicks off at 9am both days with the Amateur and Youth classes taking top-billing on Saturday before being joined by the Pro ranks on Sunday.
