MAX Nagl started the German championship season with a win at Furstlich Drehna, but the KTM man shared the honours on the day with the Rockstar Teka Suzuki factory duo, Clement Desalle and Steve Ramon, who headed him home in a tight finish to the opening 35-minute race.

In the pack leaving the awkward first turn, Nagl had to play catch-up all moto. Indeed he was ten-seconds down by the time he got to third as the Belgians ran in formation up front.

By the 20-minute stage, Nagl had halved the gap and this was the signal for Desalle to move past Ramon as the Mantova moto winner gave himself a buffer against the chasing KTM.
