AFTER four superb rounds of action the popular Fuchs-Silkolene British Two-stroke Championship reaches the mid-point in the series at the brilliant Skelder Bank circuit, near Whitby, this weekend.
Only two weekends ago the circuit hosted the second round of the Red Bull Pro National Championship and the circuit was in amazing shape, so expect it to be no different for the two-strokes.
Local hero James Noble rode great at the Pro Nationals, although he didn't take the overall win after being pipped to the top step of the podium by his former MVR-D Suzuki team-mate, Carl Nunn.
Former? because now James Noble has signed for STR Honda and will make his debut ride for his new team at Skelder Bank on a CR500! James rode the previous Fuchs-Silkolene round at Landrake where he won the overall in the Open class with two wins and a second and he'll be gunning for a hat-trick of wins this time out to get his new ride with STR Honda off to a good start.
He'll have some solid competition though, from the likes of Dave Willet, Mark Eastwood and Luke Hill. The LPE Kawasaki team always get behind this series and Jamie Smith will be blasting his 125 along with Open class riders Lewis Rose and Alistair Clark.
The destiny of the championship crown in all classes is still wide open. TM's Jim Davies leads the way in Expert 125cc after Yamaha's Dave Willet had a nightmare at Landrake after being hit in the eye by a rock. Willet also lost his lead in the Open class after not scores that day and now Luke Hill, on the big 500cc Service Honda, leads the way in front of last year's Open champ, Mark Eastwood, on his Wiseco Honda.
Matt Thomas is out in front in Junior 125cc while Ben Howard leads Junior Open.
The MCF is also running an Open Two-stroke/ Four-stroke support class for regional riders who do not wish to participate in the Fuchs-Silkolene Two-stroke championship. There'll be timed qualifying in the morning and then two 20-minute motos.
Any rider wishing to enter the Support class or the main Championship races is asked to contact secretary@mcfederation.com or call 01865-342107 to secure an entry or check out the website www.2strokebritishchampionship.co.uk for further information.
