The UEM (European Motorcycle Union) has announced that for the European Youth EMX65 and EMX85 Championships in 2012, Europe will be divided into four geographical zones with an appointed co-ordinator to oversee each zone.
This has been agreed with Youthstream (YS) president, Giuseppe Luongo, as Youthstream promotes the European Motocross Championships and the UEM works in close harmony with YS.
In each zone there will be between three and six events run between April and July 2012.
After that the top ten riders from each zone will be invited by YS to contest in the EMX65 and EMX85 Finals, which will be held during the MX1/MX2 British GP at Matterley Basin in August 2012.
To ensure that organisers are forthcoming and are not at a financial risk, the decision has been taken to put the rider's entry fee at 100 Euros per event for these two championship classes. All entry fees will go to the organiser of each event.
Splitting Europe into four zones drastically reduces the costs for parents and sponsors of young riders and also reduces the amount of time away the youngsters are away from school and their parent's away from work.
Britain's Eddie Herd, chairman of the UEM Motocross Commission, is delighted with this innovative idea from Youthstream, which will give young riders the opportunity to race on a world famous GP track in front of the team principals, the world's media and large number of spectators and is a further development of European Motocross.
The four qualification zones are as follows:–
North West Europe: Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Great Britain, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Holland, Norway and Sweden
North East Europe: Belarus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Slovakia and Ukraine
South East Europe: Albania, Austria, Azerbaijan, Boznia Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, FYROM, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Kazakhstan, Moldavia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Turkey
South West Europe: Andorra, France, Italy, Liechtenstein, Malta, Monaco, Portugal, San Marino, Spain and Switzerland
