Novogar kicks-off with Wallace Cup
By TMX Archives on 18th Feb 09

THE opening event of the eight-round ACU National Novogar Clubman Trials Championship kicks-off this Sunday with the North Berks MCC and their always well-attended Wallace Cup Trial. Once again the Wallace will be centred on the Horse and Harrow public house at West Hagbourne, near Didcot, with a truly excellent entry of 120 riders that contains plenty of quality as well as quantity.
The course will be a road-based single lap affair with 38 sections spread over several groups. The big one for spectators is Seymours Arena where seven excellent sections will be laid-out by the ever enthusiastic Stu Robinson. The first riders are expected at Seymours round about 10am, soon after the 9.30am start. All the groups of sections are accessible to spectators EXCEPT Dick's Rocks, so NO spectators there please.
The National Novogar class features the likes of Chris Pearson, Simon Welch, Jonathan Richardson, Welsh champ Gary Jenkins, Phil Disney and mountain bike ace turned TV commentator Rob Warner while former multi British Champion Steve Saunders takes his Beta out for a run in a cracking trial. British Ladies champ Becky Cook will be pushing on her new Sherco and will be joined by Emma Bristow and Maria Conway.
There's also a new 50/50 route this year for riders who don't want to ride the full Novogar course and at the other end of the spectrum there's a class for Expert riders not eligible for Novogar points. James Dabill. Ross Danby, Sam Connor, Sam Haslam and James Fry will be out for a competitive ride not to mention the chance of a handy cash prize which the Wallace always provides!
So it's once more set for a really good day's trialing for riders and spectators alike and of course we'll have a full report with pics in next week's T+MX!
