THE QRA Margate Big Sky Beach Cross weekend, on March 7/8, will be the fourth time that the QRA has run the event at the north Kent seaside town of Margate and the town officials, council etc are once again welcoming our sport with open arms. Once again the QRA and the town council are welcoming the quads to the beach and will be supporting the action with fairground rides, trade stands and a continental market on the closed seafront.
Competitor parking, which includes overnight from the Friday, is in a tarmac, fenced car park behind the promenade buildings, with the pits and work area a short distance away on the beach below the 'Beach Cafe'.
The spectators remain off the beach itself, above the action on the promenade. The layout provides a great environment for all to watch, as the quad and solo action unfolds around the 1.5-mile motocross-style circuit which is created by the QRA with the much appreciated help of Ovenden Plant Hire.
Action will get underway at 10am both days with each class, Open Adult Solo, Open Adult Quads and Youth 200/250cc Quads competing in three-races each day. The top points scorers will be crowned Champion of Margate.
In addition, on the Sunday, to bring the event to a close, in front of an estimated 20,000 spectators over the weekend, each class will have a 'Dash for Cash' grand final on the Sunday. It is FREE for spectators.
Entries are available for download at www.margatebeachcross.com or by texting your name, address and class to Tony Nash on 07774-434468.
A list of approved accommodation is also on the website.
