Colunists

ROBIN Luscombe and Les Ashby ride the final round of the British Sidecar Trials Championship on Sunday at Hope, Derbyshire, aiming for a win in the Merle Morewood Peak Trial, the final round of series.

Only four championship contenders grace the Sheffield and Hallamshire club's event, and Luscombe, along with outgoing champion Robin Morewood, have both won the Peak in the past.

New British Sidecar champions Jon Tuck and Matt Sparkes, will certainly have to fight to beat the Robins with Morewood surely confident on home ground.

In the Masters class, Lee Granby and Amelia Haigh lead Phil Sparkes and David Tuck who do not show for the final event but Glyn Hawkins and Tim Sparks do.

Peter and Daryll Dale also miss the Peak as they have already claimed the Clubman sidecar crown.

As well as the three sidecar classes, another five solo categories tackle the same course for ACU Classic Championship points. Neil Gaunt heads the Classic A from evergreen Dave Thorpe and Martyn Wilmore.

Phillip Wiffen is on a full house but Classic riders drop their lowest scores so Lee Williams has a chance to close Wiffen down in Class B.
