Phoenix takes final flight
By Mannix Devlin on 18th Oct 13
This Saturday, October 19, the final round of the Phoenix Tools Premier Motocross Series is set to take place at Landrake Moto Parc, where there has been great interest with a near-full entry in all classes.
In the Expert Open class, Luke Hawkins goes into the final round with a fair lead, but with double points on offer he knows he has to stay focused to lift the title.
Joining Hawkins will be the likes of former champion John May, last year's champion Jamie Skuse, James Dodd, Tom Moore, Kelvin Townsend, Luke Mellows, Todd Kellett, 2013 SWOR Champion Mike Rowe, Tom Harvey plus many more.
Included in the ‘many more' and making his first appearance in the series will be wild-card Brad Anderson.
In the Tyremarks Junior championship, Jay Thomas currently leads the table by 155 points, but this advantage could be lost with a DNF, so he will have to be at his best.
Anthony Milliar is currently second and he leads Lewis Barfoot in third by just two points, so this battle will go down to the wire.
Other riders aiming to do well include Josh Gilbert, who totally dominated the most recent round, Toby Harvey and Ryan Williams.
In the Over 35 class Mark Wilde leads by 78 points over defending champion Gavin Flagg.
Jason Fraser is not not too far behind in third, but there is plenty of other talent in attendance such as Jamie Deadman, Rick Hanson and Rob Lewis.
Steve Locke will be looking to take the Over 40 title, as will Keith Hanson in the Over 50s. Hanson returns after suffering a broken hand and his advantage was cut to just 28 points when his nearest rival took a hat-trick of wins at the most recent round.
Landrake Moto Parc has excellent viewing with easy parking and will be signposted just five-minutes' drive south of the Tamar Bridge on the A38 road, with the first race scheduled for 10.30am.
There are a few entries still available, so if you would like to ride give Mel Martin a call on 01626-365335.
