Eight-year-old Brett Chainey has a rare form of Crohns Disease, a condition that when active can be quite debilitating yet so little is known about it.

Mum, Mandy Chainey, is secretary of the Gravity LC club and, in order to raise awareness of the condition and raise money to fund research, the club is hosting a charity event on 21/22 July 2012 at Mosterton, West Dorset. A local family has donated land to use as a track and others in the neighbourhood are helping out by providing a marquee with music, food and bar. There will be a family-fun afternoon on the Saturday with a raffle and mini quad Olympic games, etc, and Sunday will be race day.

"Crohn's takes many forms and can manifest itself anywhere in the digestive system from the oesophagus down,” explained Mandy.

"When it is active it can, amongst other symptoms, cause acute pain, sickness, extreme weight loss and complete lack of energy. Hospital admission and surgery are often involved and the medical regime can take its toll on the patient, but unless you know someone who is suffering, it is difficult for people to understand just what a horrible condition it is.

"Brett is a fighter though and he won't let Crohn's control his life. We have a lot to thank the quad fraternity for as, riding his quad competitively and finishing third in his class in the 2011 Gravity LC Championship, has helped to keep Brett's spirits up through the painful times.”
