QX climax
By TMX Archives on 11th Sep 08

THE climax to the 2008 ACU British MMX Quad Championships takes place at Culham Motocross Park, near Abingdon, Oxfordshire on Saturday and Sunday, September 20/21, and promises to be a cracking weekend for quad racing. The QRA and NORA-MX are working hard to make the weekend a good curtain call for the 2008 British QX championships.
The event is not a closed shop for the ACU British MMX Quad Cross, ACU Youth, and ACU QRA British Quad Qualifier registered riders, because both days are open to support class riders as well, and it will also be round five of the NORA-MX club championship.
Entries are available in all Youth, Adult A, B and Over 35 classes to everyone. Some of the QRA Endurance championship riders are coming out for their first MX outing and everyone is welcome to compete on the same track as THE Quad championship riders.
Racing for the Youth classes, ACU 50cc, 100cc, 200/250cc plus the Adult Open A Class on Saturday, September 20, gets under way with practice at 10am and the first race 11.15am.
Sunday, September 21, will see all the adult classes in action with practice getting under way at 9.15am. Paul Winrow may have already wrapped up his ninth ACU British title, but many others are fighting for places.
The dethroned John Mitchell wants to hold on to second place in the championship and is on 218 points. Ricky Tordoff is third on 211, and Paul Holmes is on 191 points with William Waggott still able to improve on his current fifth spot.
Ireland's Cathal McGilligan leads the ACU QRA British Quad Qualifier championship with compatriot Jon McKnight second followed closely by Liam Cater, Sam Bryan and Sam Harrison.
If you want to compete at what promises to be a first class weekend of Youth and Adult Quad Cross action then contact Gaynor Nash on 01264-354259 or visit the website – www.qrauk.com – and download an entry form.
