ADAM Raga continued his recent run of good form following-up last week's victory in the Czech round for the World Trials Championship with another win over arch-rival Toni Bou on Sunday, this time in the Spanish championship. The occasion was the third round of the Spanish series and follows a full three months after the second round. It was staged at Morella and the contestants faced a difficult course comprising steep, dry rocky climbs and lots of dry rocks and rock steps.
Raga, on the two-stroke Gas Gas and Bou on his very special Montesa four-stroke proved to be a class ahead of their rivals with third placed Albert Cabestany (Sherco) some 30 marks in arrears of the runner-up berth.
Bou just had the edge on the opening lap losing two marks to the three of Raga but then, on the ninth section of the second and final lap he took a five. With Raga repeating his low score of three and only losing four time faults to the five of Bou it was a delighted Raga who took victory. He now holds a narrow two point Championship advantage with second-round winner Cabestany only four further marks back.
Said Adam, Coming off the Czech World Championship win was a great motivator and it is important to keep momentum. Having achieved a narrow lead I have got to build on this as there is another round this Sunday. I can't relax as Bou gives 100 per cent just like me!
