The SUSO backed ACU MMX championships head east to Blaxhall Pits this weekend for the penultimate round of what has been a fiercely competitive series and the event will get even more of a boost with the news that bothformer British champion Gordon Crockard and double MMX champ Brad Anderson have entered.
Making the most of a break in their respective championship campaigns on the international stage, both men will line-up in the Open class where they will no doubt face stiff competition from the title chasers.
Blaxhall has been a traditional part of the series for some years and the Woodbridge club will be presenting the riders with a well prepared technical track as usual, and great racing can be expected.
Championship leader Wayne Smith will be heading the charge in the Open championship and currently heads the table by by a healthy 54 points on his Pioneer Emberson Yamaha over Twisted 7 Kawasaki team-mates Bryan MacKenzie and Richard Lawson who currently sit in second and third, and who will be looking to gain an advantage and reduce the lead to the championship leader.
PAR Honda mounted Ray Rowson was in dominant form at the last round at Hawkstone, however, and will be looking for another maximum score at Blaxhall to make up for the points lost when injured earlier in the year. He could be a real threat to Smith and the two wildcards for the win.
Another PAR Honda rider who dominanted at round four was Shane Carless in the PAR backed British Under 21 series. His two impressive wins saw Shane move up to fifth in the standings. Only 43 points divide the top five riders in this extremely competitive series though and with just the two rounds remaining it could be any one of the five that take the title, and ensures that the racing will be frantic.
Team KTM UK rider Alex Snow currently heads the charge and finishing second to Carless at Hawkstone meant that he extended his series lead to 13 points over CCM mounted Krtistian Whatley who is recovering from a wrist injury. Ashley Greedy on the Talbot Cars Suzuki and Joe Dark on the Meredith Suzuki have both been putting in consistent rides and have good chances of sneaking the title too should any of their rivals make a slip.
The ACU British Quad Championship class is back with the MMX series at Blaxhall following a stand alone event at Dean Moor last weekend that saw current championship leader Paul Wnrow take another overall victory on the Winrow Racing Honda, albeit tied on points with defending champion John Mitchell on the ATV World Yamaha.
Dean Moor saw some extremely close quad racing with Winrow, Paul Holmes, and Ricky Tordoff so watch out for more of the same at Blaxhall.
Qualifying for the Open class will get under way at 9:15am on Sunday morning, followed by the Under 21's and Quads, with the first race starting at 12:15pm.
The circuit will be sign posted from the A12 at Glemham Hall, just north of Wickham Market in Suffolk.
