ADAM Raga was crowned 2008 Spanish Trials Champion on Sunday when he finished second in the final round of the series at La Nucia, Alicante. The Gas Gas rider finished runner-up to arch-rival, Repsol Montesa's Toni Bou, on the day which was easily enough to se him retain his home title. Going into the seventh and final final round, which was staged in extremely dry conditions, Bou was still in with a theoretical chance of taking the title but it was going to take a DNF from Raga if that were to come true - and Adam and his Gas Gas crew were never going to let that happen.
An extremely close opening lap of 15 sections saw Bou drop just six marks with Raga only a single mark behind while next best was Albert Cabestany on the four-stroke Sherco who dropped a round dozen.
On the second lap, Bou was the only rider to stay in single figures on seven as Cabestany dropped 12 and Raga, on his way to retaining his title, eased off to lose 14 for the lap, second for the day and Spanish Champion once again!
