Just 13 months after his horrific crash at Lommel two-times world champion Steve Ramon is on the comeback trail.

The 32-year-old Belgian will race the Maxxis and Red Bull series for Dave Thorpe's Buildbase Honda team.

The two champs got chatting at the Red Bull International last month at Mill in Holland and the deal has now been signed.

"Over the past few months I have made good progress in my rehabilitation and as I get stronger I realise I really miss racing.

"Dave Thorpe recently watched me riding and made me an offer the very next day.

"For me it's very exciting, a new bike manufacturer, new championships and a new challenge!

"Now I will get back into a full training schedule and start to prepare for next season.”

Thorpe added: "Steve clearly still has plenty to offer the sport.

"He has proved in recent weeks that he still has the speed and wants to race, but he did not want to return to the GPs.

"When I asked him if he would be interested to race in the UK he was immediately keen.

"I am very pleased to invite Steve into our team. It is great for the team and for Honda UK and will add even more spice to our national series.

"Honda's new CRF450 is a fantastic bike which we want at the front of the pack.

"And, as one of the top racers in the world, Steve has a presence around the circuit which will draw crowds and show everyone what the bike can do.

"This is a great scoop and we are all
really looking forward to the 2013 season.”

Steve will contest the Maxxis ACU British Championship and the Red Bull Pro National series, with other selected events to be decided when the full 2013 race calendar is available.
