Rock' around the clock

SEVERAL top names from the quad racing world recently helped set a new Guinness World Record for non-stop karaoke singing.
A long line of willing, if not in-tune, vocalists took their turn in the Vodka Bar of the Castle Hotel, in Tamworth, Staffordshire, to ensure that the crooning did not cease for one moment from December 30 until February 1, 2010 some ten days longer than the old record.
The venue for the challenge, the Castle Hotel, is owned by the team boss of Rocketman Racing, Tim Wedgwood, hence the less-than-tuneful appearance of a few notables from the racing scene. Ant Deacon, Jason Wildman, Chris Cooper, Nick Deacon, Sam Barrett, Stef and Chris Murphy, and Ryan Wildman were among the racers-turned-balladeers who took part.
Together, they helped claim no fewer than three records: the longest karaoke marathon with multiple participants; the most songs performed in a bar in a month; and the most songs performed in public in a month the latter record was achieved by hotel employee Richard Lancaster, who sang almost 3,000 songs.
