THE QRA Margate Beach Cross weekend, scheduled for March 6/7, will be the fifth time that the QRA have put the event on at the Kent seaside town and town officials, the council etc., are once again welcoming our sport with open arms.

In addition to the action on the beach there will be fairground rides, trade stands and a market on the closed seafront roads especially for the Beach race. In addition the town, old and new, will the backdrop to the event and is only yards away from the golden sands, so there is everything close at hand.

Competitor parking, which includes overnight from the Friday, is in a tarmac, fenced car-park behind the promenade buildings with the pits and work area just a short distance away on the beach below the beach cafe'.

Spectators, for whom the event is free, remain off the beach itself, above the action on the promenade. The layout provides a great environment for all to watch, as the solo and quad action unfolds around the 1.5-mile motocross-style circuit which is devised by the QRA with the much appreciated help of Ovenden Plant Hire.

Action will get underway at 9.30am both days with each class Open Adult Solo, Open Adult Quad and Youth 200/250cc Quad will compete in three races each day with the top points scorers being crowned Champion of Margate.

To round out the racing on Sunday, in front of what was last February 20,000 spectators over the weekend, each class will have a Dash for Cash' grand finale. Again this is free for spectators.

Entries are available for download via www.margatebeachcross.com or by texting your name, address and class to Tony Nash on 07774-434468.

A list of approved accommodation is also on the website but can be sent out if requested.

This weekend of beach racing also doubles up as rounds one and two of the QRA UK Beach Cross Championship which will be over three weekends, each being stand alone events not just for championship' contenders.
