THE Metzeler British Enduro Championship drew to a close at the weekend and KTM-mounted Tom Sagar wrapped up his first ever overall BEC title while Paul Edmondson steered his Suzuki to the outright win at the REME-organised Natterjack Enduro, an event he first won an incredible 20-years ago.

With TM's Euan McConnell having wrapped-up theEnduro 3 title at the penultimate round of the series, a spirited rideby Husqvarna's Daryl Bolter saw him claim the BEC Enduro 1 crown...

D3-RACING KTM's Tom Sagar put the finishingtouches to his impressive 2007 BEC season at the Natterjack Endurowhere the former trials rider claimed his first overall British endurotitle, despite only once managing to finish inside the overall topthree.

Aware that two steady' rides would secure him theBritish crown, Tom was happy to let former four-time world championPaul Edmondson top the results on both days as fourth on day one meantthat Tom needed just a handful of points from day two in order for himto top the champs standings.

''This weekend was all about making sure I wrappedup the title,'' explained Tom at the end of the second day. ''Sandisn't my strongest terrain but all I was really thinking about was thechampionship. I don't think anyone was expecting me to be competitiveenough to win the series, so I just didn't want to make any mistakesand mess things up. I'm thrilled to have won. I've taken a massive stepforward this season and I hope I can continue that next year.''

Paul Edmondson showed everyone the way home onboth days as the Suzuki rider just managed to outpace Husqvarna'srecently crowned European champ, Daryl Bolter, on day one beforefinishing ahead of TM's Euan McConnell on day two.

Clearly enjoying racing around the impressivemotocross test, Edmondson finished less than half-a-second up on Bolteron day one after a faultless ride. ''It was in 1987 that I first won atthe Natterjack, 20-years ago,'' admitted Eddy after the event. ''I'vebeen coming here pretty much every year since but I certainly won't beriding another 20 Natterjacks. I really enjoyed the event but had towork hard to finish ahead of Daryl on the first day.''

That second finish meant that Bolter comfortablytopped the Enduro 1 class and took an important step closer to securinghis second BEC E1 title. Forced to miss the Rhayader event with abroken collarbone, Bolter showed no signs of having recently undergonesurgery.
