MIXING motocross and hare and hounds together in a perfect mix was the general consensus after the WOR Events produced MXC (moto cross-country) event, sponsored by RJW Groundworks, at a brand new venue at Pitchford, near Shrewsbury, Shropshire.

The stubble-cross based event had a very fast, flowing four-mile loopthat incorporated a small but very good purpose-built motocrosscircuit. The format of the day was simple, there was three 45-minuteold school' motos for the adults and fitted between these there werethree 30-minute races for the kids.

A big Adult entry was full of lots of newcomers to the WOR experience, made up mainly of motocrossers and Shropshire and Midlands-based dirtwarriors. The three race results were collated to extract an overallscore in each of the classes.

The buzz was awesome and the weather helped by staying fine and leavingthe ground conditions as near perfect as they could possibly have been. The racing was superb with some real heroic displays of speed and skillthrough the ranks, lots of racers and mates battling with each otherfor the duration.

Top AMCA rider, Lee Payne, was out on a one-off ride on a very rare Gas Gas motocross machine and boy was he flying.

Winning races one and two with a super fast and stylish style, theyoung man was simply head and shoulders above his peers, and off thebig jumps on the motocross section of the course!

With seven races taking place it was non-stop action for the entire day.

Some points which warrant mention were the performance of Dutchman MikeKock, who failed to finish race one with some brake problems on hisKTM. He then pulled a 450 Honda out of his van and simply blitzed hisway to a well earned runners-up position in race two and a win in racethree to securing overall second on the day.

Payne encountered some mechanical problems in race three and suffered a DNF, even though he had done enough to take the overall.
