TONG, near Bradford, was the venue for the second round of the National Putoline Hare Scramble Championship over the weekend, hosted by Dirtbike-Traxs. A lot of work had been carried out over a number of months, including the preparation of flowing tracks through the mature woodland with jumps and berms.

Several interesting features had been included onthe course including the Putoline Rocks of Doom' - an extreme sectionwhich, if ridden clean, could save as much as a minute compared to the scenic alternative, atrip along the lakeside before meandering through a short section ofwoodland to rejoin the course.

This particular section proved popular withhundreds of spectators who lined the rocks to watch the skills of thetop riders and see the lesser riders struggle, further around the course an off-camber decent into arocky stream bed proved tricky for some who ended up slithering downthe bank.

The main race of the weekend kicked off at 12.30pmon Sunday, with some of the UK's best off-roaders amongst a line-up of200 - including Si Wakley, Tom Sagar, Ryan Voase, Graham Jarvis andMark Jackson. Voase blasted off into an early lead by taking thehole-shot, with old timer Mark Houson in second spot.

Ryan was soon overhauled by Tom Sagar who startedto edge away. As Tom completed his first lap he came to the Rocks ofDoom'. He made them look easy, increasing his lead over Voase, with Si Wakley third and Mark Jackson in an early fourth.
