FOLLOWING-on from their recent post-trial review meeting, the committee for the Pre-65 Scottish Silver Jubilee Two-Day Trial would like to thank Mr Ian Roberts of Serco for his sponsorship of the 2009 event and wish him well with his business for the future. Despite the mostly rainy weather that prevailed throughout the event the trial has been hailed the ‘best one yet' by many riders and spectators and the organising committee are delighted that their efforts are appreciated by the majority. Thanks are also extended to Bill Wilkinson who did an admirable job of welcoming the riders each day and setting them off in the pouring rain.
Clerk of the course, Bill Emmerson, reported that 71 out of the 180 entrants had failed to complete their machine eligibility form correctly and he points out that, in future, this failure could eliminate the entrant from the ballot as only complete applications will be eligible. Due to the increasingly large number of entries received for this event, the club is getting stricter with implementing the eligibility rules and the onus is on each entrant to ensure that his entry and machine eligibility form are fully completed and that the bike itself complies with the criteria stated. This is well worth remembering for when the entries for the 2010 Trial become available at the beginning of October!
Many thanks to all who purchased the club's Silver Jubilee T-shirt and apologies to everyone who wanted one and couldn't get one as with the limited number they sold out very quickly.
Secretary, Anne Gordon, would like to thank Alan Wright for organising the collection taken at the Bill Wilkinson Talk Show in Fort William on Sunday, May 3 in which the proceeds were divided between a cancer charity and Kinlochleven High School for their part in welcoming the Pre-65 Trial to the area each year. The school was delighted with the extra funds and thank everyone who contributed to the collection.
