Sheffield belongs to Doug

THE Sheffield Indoor Trial, traditionally run early each New Year, has turned into one of Britain's most eagerly anticipated and consistently well-supported off-road events in the calendar. And the show will go on and the date for your diaries is Saturday, January 8, 2011.
The fact is that as ever this is the only chance you will get in Britain to see the top riders in the world pushing trials to the very limit in a competitive indoor setting. Co-promoter Neil Crosswaite said this week, "We have no news on the World Indoor Championship for next year but whether we end up staging a round or not, there will be as usual an International Indoor trial with the top riders in the world. And they will be competing over a fantastic course under observing rules that will be simple for everyone, riders and spectators to understand.
Martin Lampkin will once more be in charge of the sections and each year Mart comes up with hazards that bring out the best in riders.
Dougie Lampkin is the only rider who has competed in every single Sheffield Indoor events since its inception and, despite annual reports that each year will be his last (Doug has never actually said that!) the five times World Indoor Champ will be back to give his fans at least one more last chance to shout for him. Doug never gives anything less than 100% and he loves the Sheffield atmosphere.
T+MX will bring you the rider line-up as and when it is confirmed - but expect nothing less than the best.
Ticket prices had been held for the last two years but for 2011 there will have to be an increase, not least because VAT rises in the new year. Adult tickets will be £32.50 with juniors £22.50. And if you are wanting to reserve your favourite seat - and the best seats go first - the Sheffield box office is open now so call 01142-565656 to get your New Year away to an exciting start.
