The ACU Ladies and Girls trials championship series heads into the Scott Trial heartlands on Sunday at The Woodyard, Reeth, Yorkshire, where round six in the eight event calendar takes place on the lower slopes of towering Fremington Edge, writes Barry Robinson.

Thew good news is that entry numbers are up and stand at a healthy 31 competitors, in six different classes. The major question in the Ladies championship class is whether on-form Emma Bristow can repeat her victory from last year. The Louth girl had Kevin Morphett as minder during her winning ride. He will be at Reeth with daughter Emma on Sunday morning aiming to contain Lianda Dabill and Harriet Shore in the Ladies Inters. On current form there's every chance that Emma will battle for top spot on the podium and better her run of five third places which sees her pushing reigning champ Becky Cook and current series leader Joanne Coles. Becky took the Yeadon-Guiseley result from Colesey but the latter is the hot property in the adult ranks at present.

Meanwhile, Miss Morphett has already effected a drop score by missing the Scarborough trial so Lianda D is by no means home and dry with Horsforth and the Isle of Wight finale in October.

The three Youth classes are warm. Hannah Styles is expected to rule Class A from Danielle Whitham. The JST employee has just too much experience and skills for Danielle at present. Class B is a problem. Chloe Richardson is on a roll from determined Nikita Smith with Simone Wallis homing in past Kate Hunter while Hannah Richardson and Ellie Braithwaite are locked on 48 championship points. Bristol 12 year old Maisie Payne has been brilliant this year winning all but Scarborough where Beth Waite ruled. Niamh Richardson and Gabby Whitham round off the scoreline.

Two new names arrive in the Youth Newcomers in Emily Anderson and Nieve Holmes but the Adult Newcomers file remains empty. Dave Allinson and his team will lay out a traditional course at the Woodyard at Reeth. The trial starts at 10.30am and Dorothy Wardle will be feeding the hungry in her usual style. The Woodyard sits alongside the river at Reeth, just near the bridge.
