Sheppard leads the flock

THE Talon Trophy Trial got the YMSA Championships off to a good start, greeted with a spring-like day and the sun shone on one young rider by the name of Jack Sheppard.
Better than any one else in the A class and showing his form from the off, Jack completed lap one for a
loss of eight marks, with Jonathan Richardson on his MRS Sherco chasing on 14 and Ben Morphett next on 17.
Ben chased very hard and completed lap two for a measly four marks, three better than Jack. Jonathan dropped 14 again, pushing him out of the race. Starting lap three, Ben gave it his best shot, finishing the lap for five marks, giving him a total of 26, but Sheppard had a stunning last lap of two to give him the overall win on 17, showing A class riders his intentions for this coming weekend at the Scarborough A & B National.
B class riders started their campaign at section five, comprising limestone rocks and a little mud, which caught Tom Dexter for his first mark, the winner of B class, Chris Short, and third placed Jack Welch waiting until section four to spoil their cards, Chris a measly one and Jack two. Chris Short lost 35 marks, pushing Tom Dexter into second place by two marks on 37.
Joanne Coles, leading the Ladies championship and riding the same route as B class, dropped only 38 marks showing the lads her intentions for 2008.
