THE final round of this year's Novogar Trials Championship takes place this Sunday, September 20, when the Newcastle and DMC holds its Travers Trophy Trial starting in Ireshopeburn, in County Durham. Almost 80-riders have entered, with around half riding the championship course with the remainder tackling an eased route, which itself has helped boost entries throughout the series this year.
Chris Pearson clinched the title at the previous round, as neither of his closest rivals, Matthew Jones and local lad John Crinson can now catch him.
Although Jones currently holds second spot, unlike Crinson he needs to drop a round, but either can take the runners-up spot on the strength of this weekend's result.
While the Novogar points are important, the overall win is of course up for grabs, and Dan Thorpe and Sam Haslam head the non-championship riders aiming to take the Travers Trophy home.
Mick Boam and Richard Allen still have it all to play for in the Novogar Over 40 class, although Allen needs to win and then hope for a couple of others to get between him and current leader, Boam, to have any real chance of taking the title.
