Husky Sport, UK distributor for Husqvarna Motorcycles, is disappointed to announce the retirement of Simon Wakely from enduro competition.

Simon, who has this year been campaigning the new Husqvarna TE250 in British Enduro and British Enduro Sprint Championships, has taken the difficult decision to withdraw from competition after a series of disappointing results.

Simon said: After 17 years of racing, I feel I need to take a break. I'm not getting the results I should be and that my sponsors deserve, so I've taken the difficult decision to stop mid-season to reassess my future. I'd like to thank my sponsors and family for their massive support over the years, without them I wouldn't have got as far as I have in the sport.

Mike Carter, MD of Husky Sport commented: We are very disappointed that Simon has chosen to retire from racing mid-season, in particular as together with our sponsors we had put together a very comprehensive support package for him this year. The bike that Simon chose to ride this year, the new Husqvarna TE250, is currently leading the World E1 Enduro Championship and we had high hopes of replicating this success with Simon on the British scene.

Husqvarna will continue to be represented at enduros in the UK by Joe Deakin riding for Husqvarna UK on the WR125 and by the MPS Racing Husqvarna team.
