Paul Winrow, riding his KTM UK, took round two of the 2010 QRA British Quad Cross Country championship by storm last weekend and remains unbeaten in the series so far.

Track conditions were ideal, as overnight rain dampened down the track with its winding open fields and wooded sections and stopped the

possibility of the dreaded dust.

A strong field of over 70 riders set off in classes in the morning for the three hour non-stop event and in the top Pro class one time champion, Steve Atkins got the holeshot on his Ark ATV Honda and set off at a blinding pace. It wasn't long before reigning champion Winrow reeled him in and passed him for the lead.

But Atkin's day went from bad to worse as the rear shock went on his Honda dropping him back in the running order to finish in 11th place and two laps down on winner Winrow.

Winrow didn't have things all his own way as David Baldwin pushed him hard for most of the event and was the only other rider to finish on the lead lap.

In the Expert class, leader after the first round, Sam Barrett, crashed his Suzuki early on in the event and struggled to get going again, and in so doing he lost the series lead to Paul Harkness and dropped to fourth.

Antony Barrett notched up another third place and still in third place in the championship but now level in points with second place, in class, Brendan Rutter.

Scott Linley remains unbeaten and is still top of the Club class as Jon Morgan does the same in the 4x4 class.

It was encouraging to see lots of new riders having their first go of a cross country event as it was the lack of entries that caused the cancellation of the original second round
