SSDT entries out

THE organising Edinburgh and DMC has completed the ballot for the 2007 Scottish Six Days Trial and with a monster number of 457 entries to whittle down to 270 starters there are obviously around 200 hopefuls at the moment holding their heads in their hands.
The Scottish takes place next year from Monday to Saturday, May 7/12, and from a spectator's point of view there is a really strong and interesting entry and lots of useful riders in the mix.
SSDT specialist Graham Jarvis (Sherco) heads the list of potential winners and if he is fully fit Graham must start as favourite. He has the perfect blend of skill, temperament and patience necessary to post consistent low scores for six consecutive days. There are plenty of competitors capable of nailing Best On Day scores, but for sheer consistency Graham will take some beating.
Interesting riders in the mix in 2007 include ex-World Champion, Finn Tommi Ahvala (Gas Gas), Spaniards Amos Bilbao (Montesa) and Jordi Pasquet (Gas Gas) and multi-American champ Geoff Aarron (Montesa) who is an interesting first-timer.
Top British prospect, James Dabill, will be heading a strong Italian TRW Montesa squad which includes former World vice-champion, Italian Diego Bosis, his countryman Fabio Lenzi and Japanese Tsuyoshi Ogawa.
Steve Colley is entered as is Shaun Morris, Dan Thorpe, Wayne Braybrook and John Shirt in a strong Gas Gas UK team which also boasts newcomers Alexz Wigg and Ross Danby. Wiggy is always worth watching, of course, and it will be interesting to see how Alexz adapts to the no-stop SSDT rules. He will certainly be in experienced company with the Gas Gas UK squad.
