Sutton tied up in Notts

SUTTON Falcons will stage their first winter trial this Sunday, November 22, at Norwood Lodge, Teversal, Notts. Due to the untimely death of long-standing Falcons member, Dr Leigh Jepson, the club, with the Jepson family's approval, have re-named the event The Leigh Jepson Memorial Trial.
Leigh came up through the ranks from Youth to Adult, riding Falcons trials at Norwood and the club feel that Leigh displayed all the qualities that young trials riders could benefit from. He was polite to all, quietly but extremely determined and an avid keep-fit fan.
Recently, Leigh would only get chance to ride a couple of times a year, one of these rides being the Scott Trial, and due to his ability and determined attitude, he could put a good performance in, but also had the compassion to pull-up and administer first aid to an injured fellow competitor.
Because of these attributes, the club feels that Leigh's name be remembered, by way of an annual event, and are having a trophy engraved for presentation at the annual awards ceremony on Boxing Day.
The club will set this Sunday's trial out on the dry bankings of the venue, with a couple of stream sections, with a Clubman route so that all types of bike, and rider ability can have an enjoyable day. The Hard route will be set out by an Intermediate and an Expert, and for the first time, a conducted route, run by Colin Bowers Sr, who is keen to get the youth side of the club active again.
The club hopes that whether or not you knew Leigh, please come along and support the event. Any rider who brings an observer will get a free entry, and all observers will get a bottle of wine.
