Tough One '10 entries open...

ENTRIES are now open for the 100 slots open for the 2010 edition of the prestigious Tough One' extreme enduro, which WPR Events will again run at Nantmawr Quarry, near Oswestry, on the Shropshire borders, on Saturday, January 23.
As the opening round of the newly created five-round World Extreme Enduro Championship, organiser Steve Ireland promises that the event will top anything ever seen at the ‘T1' in previous years. As part of this exciting new series, it is hoped to entice the best riders in the World.
A brand new format has been devised to guarantee action from the start of the day. This time round spectators will get to see the world's best riders in action on four separate occasions during the day as opposed to the usual two-hour afternoon race of previous years.
The action will commence at 9am for ALL riders when a 1.5-hour Hare Scramble will take place to determine the top 50 riders, who will go through to the T1 Final later in the day.
A one-hour B Final has been added to the programme for the 50 non-qualifiers.
Then shortly after the morning qualifier, the top ten Pro riders will be on the course again to contest a ‘Hot Lap'' contest on a special test laid out in the quarry basin. This will take in some of the extreme sections and take two to three minutes to complete and will be used to determine the start order for the main final.
Following the main ‘Tough One' race the stunning ‘Boulder Dash' from last year will again be run for the top six finishers from the ‘T1' final.
This will take place towards the end of the afternoon and be considerably tougher than last year's challenge which Taddy Blazusiak and Dougie Lampkin made look ever so so easy.
The Tough One has been the most entertaining and exciting event in the British enduro calendar and has grown in size and stature as the organisation and presentation has evolved.
Most people familiar with the venue know that parking space in the quarry is at a premium so this year a new pricing structure has been announced to aid the smooth running of the event.
For 2010 admission to the event will be by ticket only – and only a limited supply of tickets will be available and these will be numbered. Tickets will be £100 per car – so if you have five people in your car that means the admission is £20 each. If you have a seven-seater, then even better!
Tickets will go on sale on November 1 and T+MX will keep you right up to date with how to get them – and who has signed-up to ride!
