Train in Spain

FOR a number of years the NMA's (National Motocross Academy's) residential motocross courses have proved popular for both the quality of training offered and the 'fun factor' in learning, writes Chris Sprawson.

When winter arrives, many activities are put on hold due to the unpredictable weather conditions we have in Britain.

In February 2005 the NMA turned its thoughts to training in a more favourable climate – Spain! The week-long course proved very successful with the group basking in temperatures in the upper 20's whilst parts of England were covered in snow!

This year flooding hit Britain in February whilst the NMA students were sunning themselves in Spain, so we're hoping that, once again, our return to Spain in February 2007, will again be blessed with sunshine.

On Friday, February 16, the NMA group will jet off to Alicante on the Casta Blanca for a week of training on five different race circuits (not practice circuits).

NMA instructors Danny Tollet, James Davies and Ben Smith along with NMA co-ordinator Chris Sprawson flew over to Spain recently to check on the circuits and confirm the accommodation and facilities available for next years group.

The NMA party will fly out to Alicante from various regional airports convenient to each rider and will be met at Alicante airport and transferred to the four-star hotel overlooking the Mediterranean.

All bikes, spares and riding kit etc will have been collected earlier that week at each riders home or at a pre-arranged location and transported to the hotel in Spain so that everything will be ready for the first day's riding after breakfast on the Saturday.

Accommodation will be in self contained apartments within the hotel complex. Each apartment has two twin bedded bedrooms, en suite bathroom, living area with fridge and satellite TV and air-conditioning should the weather get too warm!

As on all NMA courses, the NMA package covers everything. Included is all transportation of bikes, equipment and riders to and from the circuits, all accommodation and meals for the seven days, fuel/ oil for the bikes for the week along with tuition fees and, of course, return air fare to Alidante.

The course is open to all abilities from Junior 65cc upwards at the fully inclusive prace of £1,395 and there is a special package (bed and breakfast only and return air fare) available for any relatives who wish to accompany a rider.

Why not treat yourself to a very special Christmas present and enjoy a week in the sun with the NMA next February?

The course is planned to coincide with the half term holidays for the majority of schools. With a course of this nature, places are limited to the capacity of the transportation of the bikes to Spain and bookings will be taken on a 'first come, first served' basis.
