THE big news this week for many riders and trials fans is that the Edinburgh and DMC has announced entries for the 2016 Scottish Six Days Trial, which will take place from Monday to Saturday, May 2 to May 7, have now officially opened.

As last year, entries can now be made online via the SSDT website which is ssdt.org.

There's no panic just yet as entries won't be closing until Tuesday, December 8.

This is because entries are not taken on a first come – first served basis, they are all held open until the closing date.

Then, if there are more entries than places there will be a ballot which will be completed as soon as possible after entries close.

The club reserves the right to allocate so many places for different classes so there will be so many spaces for first timers, so many for factory riders, so many for Scottish riders, foreign competitors and so on, to ensure there is as fair an allocation as possible.

It is hoped that all riders will be informed of their entry status early in the new year if not before so as to enable them to crack on with accommodation etc.

Re the Scottish Two Day Pre-65 trial which precedes the Six Days on Friday/ Saturday, May 29/30 and for which Regs are also out, the club stated that a new ‘booklet' would be available in order to help entrants, especially first timers, understand the eligibility rules.

The Pre-65 committee have sent the following message:

"Apologies for the delay but the new eligibility guidelines booklet has taken longer to produce that we first anticipated to ensure that the wording is as informative and concise as possible.

It should be available by early next week and if you would like a copy emailed to you as soon as it is ready, please email info@pre65scottish.co.uk with your request.

As soon as it is available it will also be posted on the Pre 65 page on www.ssdt.org for you to look at or download.

Sincere apologies for any frustration caused by this delay but we are keen to get this right and there is still plenty of time to enter as the closing date is not until Friday, December 4.

Entries are NOT done on a first come first served basis.”
