Steven Clarke battled hard throughout round four of the Maxxis British motocross championship, held at the new Milton Park track, near Northampton, at the weekend, as the Maxxis Apico Suzuki rider tried to overcome mechanical issues and claim some vital championship points.

With the series visiting the track for the first time, it was well-watered following the recent dry weather. However this made for tricky qualifying sessions leaving Clarke in 19th position.

The day did not improve for the team, which recorded two DNFs after technical problems in the opening two motos.
In race three Clarke put his earlier problems behind him and slotted into a top five position after a clear run to the first corner. Showing fast and consistent riding, Clarke managed to cross the line in fifth place.

Steven Clarke: "Wow, what a tough day for us all. After the wet qualifying, the track became fast and flowing. I was able to get great starts in all of my races, taking a third at the beginning of moto two, until we had some problems with the bike.

"I am pleased I was able to show in moto three how confident I feel with the bike, and that I was able to claw back some points to try and keep my championship hopes alive.”
