WEC's coming to Wales in 2008...

IT hasn't been officially announced yet, and won't be until after the next FIM Congress to be held in October, but WEC promoter Alain Blanchard has confirmed that the Hafren Dirt Bike Club will host a round of the 2008 World Enduro Championship to be staged in Llanidloes, Mid Wales.
Set to be the focal point of the British enduroscene next season the as yet un-named event will take place in July andas previously mentioned will run along similar lines to both thisyear's BEC event and the European Enduro Championship event held in2005.
''I have wanted the WEC to come to Great Britainfor many years and am pleased that it will finally happen,'' commentedseries promoter Blanchard.
''There are many things that must be consideredwhen appointing events to the championship and a level of organisationand professionalism that has to be achieved. I am confident that theHafren Dirt Bike Club will put on a great event. I just hope theweather is good.''
Blanchard visited Llanidloes prior to the clubrunning the opening round of this year's BEC series and the Hafrenclub's hopes of running a world championship event looked to have takena dive when they were told that a hard standing paddock was essential.Although impressed with the club's enthusiasm, the paddock situationseemed to be a serious issue for the club but thankfully Britain willdefinitely be hosting a round of the WEC next season.
''The club is thrilled that the world championshipwill be returning to Great Britain, and Wales, next season,'' saidHafren's Rowan Jones. ''The lack of a hard-standing paddock makesthings harder for the club but we have three paddock locationsavailable and will ensure that the required hard-standing areas aresupplied. It's been a lot of hard work securing the event but the realwork starts now.''
The HDBC will meet in two-weeks to prepare itsevent organising team and plan to hold an open meeting shortlyafterwards where anyone who is interested in assisting the club in anyway is welcome to attend to put forward their suggestions.
