Weston Beach Race - Youth Quad

The Youth Quad race at Weston kicked the weekend's racing activities off on Saturday morning with 61 roders taking to the shortened track.
Unsurprisingly, it was the bigger Y3 class machines which dominated proceedings with Y3 class machines filling all but one of the top-ten places at the end of the hour long thrash.
The battle for supremacy was a fairly close run thing at the front of the pack as the podium men all finished together on 14 laps, but topping the lot was Dean Thompson on his 200cc ATV World Yamaha.
Dean made the long trip from Ballymena, Northern Ireland, more than worthwhile as he stormed to a convincing win by almost three minutes from fellow Y3 classers Keiran Power and Liam Musselwhite in what was an all Yamaha podium.
It was unbelievably close all the way to the flag in the scrap for second place though, and as the flag flew Power just edged it from Musslewhite by an unbelievably tight two seconds!
Finishing an impressive fourth, a lap down on the leaders on 13 was first Y1 class rider Luke Cooper who led home Thomas Claireaux, Yorath Williams to complete the top six, while Luke Forrester, top girl Abbi Walton, Scott Linley and Oliver cummings rounded out the top ten all on the same lap.
Unsurprisingly Cooper took the Y1 class award from Jack Price-Draper and Elliott Downes who finished in 21st and 22nd places respectively, while Andrew Britton completed 12 laps and finished one lap clear of his rivals to scoop the Y2 class award from Matty Davies and Ameelie Miller.
