We've got that sinking feeling

'OFFICIALS' took three 4x4 vehicles way to far down the beach again at Weston this year. In one of the early events run by RHL a similar thing happened. when an 'official' took one of the sponsor's Cherokee Jeeps too far out and got stuck in soft sand. That ended up with the tide lapping the top of the Jeep's roof while jet-skis raced round it!
So, as not to be in a similarly embarrassing situation, a speedy (not) huge Dozer was dispatched across the track, skilfully avoiding all the quads and sidecars that were doing 80 mph plus down the main straight to rescue the bogged down buggies.
Buggy one was duly pulled clear and the dozer backed up towards the second one. At this point however, the by now displaced sand started to suck at the tracks and it soon became apparent as it tried to pull buggy two clear that neither were not moving forwards, but the dozer was also sinking down into the sand!
It took most of the race to get a 360-degree excavator to the scene to rescue the rescuer's, which they eventually did as the tide came in – all-in-all far more entertaining than the stunt show.
