WOR's Llwyd and proud
By TMX Archives on 2nd Mar 07

ONCE again the unpredictable Welsh weather challenged the organising team at WOR Events when it staged its latest event over the weekend of February 24/25.
On Saturday over 80 riders attended a fantastic race experience day and set the tone for a big turnout on Sunday.
The huge forest venue at Cefn Llwyd was freshly graded and had new sections right the way through it. The circuit had been planned to run mainly on flowing stone tracks with some minimal work in the trees. A huge piece of open moorland was also included which offered riding conditions very similar to those found in Scotland.
The 11km loop had to be changed and tweaked slightly but on the whole the course stood up and the riders enjoyed a great ride.
The usual WOR format of two races was the order of the day and at 9.30am the two hour Intermediate event got under way, riding a slightly smaller and easier course than devised for the main open race. Goggles were useless within a quarter of a lap but the grin factor from the riders enjoying the long blasts of fire roads was evident for all to see.
In the Ladies class, Rachael Atherton took the spoils with a consistent ride that had her finishing comfortably ahead of Kate Lloyd and Leah Jones. The Ladies class was one of the biggest to date with over 15 females taking part!
A huge Youth class saw some very spirited displays with the two Humphreys boys who love hard conditions, on the podium. Gethin finished in second with Owain third. The win went to the impressive Josh Taylor who built up a four minute advantage.
