Youth Elite is Open for '09

THE MC Federation have released the dates and venues for next year's Elite Youth Cup competition, finalising their championship calendar with just one venue to be announced for the all important end of season spectacular. With all the dates now rolled out for BYMX, BSMA, Masters and EYC it's obvious it's going to be a full on youth racing year in '09, as there is hardly a weekend goes by from March to October without a major Youth national taking place.
The Elite Youth Cup for 2009 will also incorporate the first three rounds of the new totally exciting Red Bull Pro series, which is already attracting top name riders. The Sunday Pro class is also open to Youth riders of 15 years of age or over, and they will have the option to ride 250cc two-stroke machinery if they fancy giving it a go. The rounds featuring Sunday Pro action will be at Landrake, in Cornwall, which is round one, round three at Whitby, and round five at Canada Heights, in Kent .
With all the major changes going on surrounding the format of this new and almost groundbreaking series, it worth noting the following points for clarity.
1 - The name of last season's Elite Senior class has now changed to the Rookies, and will be open to 14 to 17-year-olds racing on up to 250cc two and four-stroke machinery.
2 - You can race in the Elite Open class from the ages of 16-21 years on up to 250cc machinery. Both two and four strokes again being allowed and the championship will be over the full eight rounds. Open class riders will also have the opportunity to race Red Bull pro at rounds two three and five on the Sunday.
RED BULL ELITE YOUTH CUP DATES
Round 1 - April 11 and 12 at Landrake (Red Bull pro Sunday).
Round 2 - May 9 and 10 at Thorsway (Red Bull pro Sunday).
Round 3 - June 6 and 7 at Whitby (Red Bull pro Sunday).
Round 4 - July 4 and 5 at Cusses Gorse.
Round 5 - July 18 and 19 at Canada Heights (Red Bull pro Sunday).
Round 6 - August 8 and 9 atWakes Colne.
Round 7 - September 5 and 6 at Pontrilas.
Round 8 - October 3 and 4 venue TBA.
