THE Team Green Kawasaki line-up for the 2009 Youth Championship season will be a three pronged attack led by Scott James and Connor Walkley in the ACU's BYMX Open class, and Michael Eccles in the Big-wheel 85cc division both at home and in Europe.
Sixteen year old Scott will be in his final year of Youth competition and will be mixing Youth and Adult racing to good effect as he also has selected the Maxxis MX2 rounds in his sights along with the Youth MXY2 crown.
Fourteen-year-old Connor, the ACU's Rookie of the Year, will be the other half of the South Wales pairing, racing in the top Youth sections. Connor has now fully recovered from a recent shoulder injury and back in full ACU academy training on the 250F. The extra power and torque now at Connors' disposal will make him far more competitive compared to last season where he always felt he needed more horsepower than the 144cc two stroke machine had to offer when racing against a field of predominantly four strokes.
Michael Eccles, the youngest member of the squad at 11-years-old, could well have the most adventurous schedule if all goes to plan, as he has the Dutch Big-wheel series already pencilled in to his calendar of events. Team Eccles realises only too well it will be a really tough challenge with the top guys out there being older, more experienced and some ten seconds a lap quicker right now. It's a steep learning curve for sure, but the young Kawasaki pilot is eager to compete at the higher level. If all goes well, Micky Eccles' master plan for 2009 is to learn from the top guys, closing the gap on the very best in Europe and compete in home events.
