Fresh from his victory in the 2015 Arenacross Tour, we chased down Thomas Ramette to the departure lounge at Gatwick where he was waiting for a flight to Lyon.
"I'm so pumped," said the 23-year-old from Valence.
"You know it's my first major title and my first title since my 85cc French championship in 2003.
"It was a tough competition with a lot of good riders."
Thomas won the final round of the 2014 tour at Wembley but didn't come into this year's series opener in Manchester - which he won - over-confident.
"Honestly, I wasn't thinking about the championship before Manchester and even after because normally I wasn't so consistent before this year.
"I could have won one race and then finished ninth the next one.
"But I think that I made some huge progress this year with that and I believe this team helped make me more stronger mentally and I'm really happy about it."
Throughout the tour the incredible team spirit in the SR75 Molson pits has been clear for everyone to see with Thomas and team-mate Cyrille Coulon working closely together.
It was Cyrille who originally suggested to team owner Geoff Walker that he hire Ramette and it turned out to be an inspired choice of rider.
"It was nice to have [Cyrille] as team-mate and share some feedback on the tracks," said Ramette.
"He also helped me for the bike settings as we all work together as a team and I think he could has been on the podium if he wasn't injured before the championship.
"The team are just fantastic and gave me all the tools to win this championship.
"The bike is unbelievable and is the best Suzuki I have ridden and Geoff works so hard to make this team what it is now
"I'm really proud to be part of this team.
"I thank everyone in the team and every sponsor and supporter of the team and this series.
"I feel amazing. Merci AXUK!"
