It’s that time of year when the Sunbeam MCC seek nominations for their prestigious Pinhard Trophy award which is annually dished out to ‘the best Under-21-year-old sporting motorcyclist competing under ACU or SACU jurisdiction’. Athletes must be under 21 on November 1 which is the closing date for this year’s nominations.
Last year’s winner was Scottish trials rider Jamie Galloway who has been competing since he was six. The judges were particularly impressed by his efforts to instruct and support young riders. He is a qualified coach and proactively organises training days attended by young and old alike.
“After the initial shock of the phone call, the excitement and sheer honour of receiving such a prestigious award kicked in,” commented Jamie about the news being broken to him. “I am blown away, especially when you look down the list of previous winners. There are just so many huge names from the world of motorcycling so to say I am proud is an understatement.”
