Freeman dominates opening weekend of Campionati Assoluti d'Italia Enduro

Brad Freeman ignored the view on his way to two wins in Italy.

Beta Factory Racing’s Brad Freeman sent out a stern message to the competition in this year’s FIM EnduroGP World Championship by dominating the opening weekend of the Campionati Assoluti d'Italia Enduro at Andora – on the Italian Riviera – beating a whole heap of EnduroGP stars including current champion Andrea Verona.

Verona and his GASGAS set the pace on day one, but Freeman kept plugging away and as he settled into the competition started dominating the tests. Verona held the overall advantage into the final timed special of the day but another solid performance from the Brit saw him wrestle the lead from Verona’s grip and secure the day win.

Behind Freeman and Verona, Kiwi Hamish MacDonald took third on his Sherco ahead of Beta’s Steve Holcombe, Mickael Persson (Husqvarna) and TM’s Daniel Milner. Jed Etchells placed ninth on his Fantic with Nathan Watson 13th and Harry Edmondson 37th on his four-stroke debut.

Day two saw Freeman lead from the off taking 10 out of 12 test wins to eke out a 20-second advantage over Verona at the end of the day. Holcombe secured third with a consistent ride with MacDonald fourth and Watson a much improved fifth on the RedMoto Honda. Etchells was ninth again while Edmondson improved seven places to take 30th in the overall rankings.
