Ben Wibberley, on his PH Motorcycles KTM, won last Sunday's 2023 Canada Heights Timecard Enduro set on and around the Sidcup Club's famous motocross track.

Ben Wibberley was the quickest Championship rider through the Special Tests

The approximately six-mile long course had a mixture of fast open fields that left trails of light dust following the riders as they sped on their way and also utilised the club’s motocross track. But the lack of rain over the last weeks had left the ground like concrete and very dusty. "It was tough on the forearms,” said event and Championship class winner Wibberley.

At 10.30 on Sunday morning, the field of nearly 150 riders set off for a long day of riding in groups of four at one-minute intervals. The Championship, Expert, Veteran A and Clubman A riders were asked to do six Special Tests with the Evo, Veteran B and Clubman B doing five. The Sportsman competitors only needed to complete four.

Tom Hutchison got off to a great start

As Wibberley slid into the start of his first Special Test in a cloud of dust, the writing was on the wall that he was the man to beat. He set the fastest time just over eight seconds faster than Eddie Cracker (Inta Motorcycles GTCI Fantic). The third fastest was Tom Hutchison (Lynwoods Electricals GASGAS).

From then on, apart from test three, he went faster and faster, and no one could keep with him or get close. His six test times were over 45 seconds quicker than Cracker, with Brett Pocock (Inta Motorcycles GTCI Fantic) third fastest – just three seconds behind Cracker.

But, with the weather and track conditions, as it was, the allotted time for the time checks could have been more achievable with the whole of the Championship class dropping at least six minutes.

So, when everything was totalled up, it was Wibberley from Pocock, Hutchison, Stuart King (GASGAS), Daniel Beaven (Enduro Tyres Yamaha), Cracker and Christian Fairclough (Out of the Wood Barns KTM).

Steven Cooper (Dynamic Water KTM) dominated the Expert class and set test times that would have made him challenge for a high-place finish in the Championship class. His total test times of 13.40 was over 45 seconds clear of second-place man in the tests, Gus Oblein (Sherco). But when time penalties were added, Shane McKane (CSS Bikes Husqvarna) was runner-up, with Oblein third.

Simon Beken (CSS Bikes KTM) was the Veteran A Over 50 class winner from Chris Stanger (Beta), as only three riders finished in this class.

It was close at the top of Clubman A with only the smallest of margins separating winner Ben Anderson (Motoward Beta) from second place man Daniel Sibbick (DTS Bikes Beta). Harry Hunt (KTM) was third.

Only two finishers were in the Evo class for Pre-1990 bikes, as Simon Davis (Husqvarna) won with Alan Woods (Eggstream MX Kawasaki) second.

Jeremy Moss (KTM) took control of the Veteran B class, for the over fifties with a win over Stephen Scott (KTM) and Lewis Davis (Beta).

The big Clubman B class saw a win for Ludovit Lucan (Sherco) from Taite Elsey (Landmark KTM) and with Henry Jex (Jex CA Racing Rieju) third.

In the ever-popular Sportsman class, Danny Davis (DB Motorsports GASGAS) cruised to an easy win over Edward Sturgess (DB Motorsports GASGAS) and Lee Williams (Rieju).
