Todd Kellett clinches Sand Races World Cup
By Team TMX on 20th Nov 23
A pair of second-place finishes behind Belgium's Yentel Martens at the final stop of the inaugural FIM Sand Races World Cup in Portugal was more than enough to secure the championship title for Somerset's Todd Kellett. The Yamaha star entered the event on the back foot after hurting himself in a round of the Championnat de France des Sables which meant he was unable to train properly or ride ahead of the Sand Races World Cup finale. Relying on talent and tenacity, Kellett got the job done.
“I’m really proud to have accomplished this and I’m also proud of the team for their support of the FIM Sand Races World Cup,” said Kellett. “This has been my dream from a very young age. I never managed it in Motocross so to finally have an FIM title means a lot to me. If you had asked me two weeks ago I would not have been sure I could win, but I think I have done a good job and my goal is now to go to work for next year’s competition.”
