LA NUCIA, Alicante.Albert Cabestany rode very well in the fourth round of the 2006 Spanish Trials Championship. The event was contested under extreme conditions, intense heat and very dry rocky terrain, which caused the riders much distress.
The Sherco rider finished the first lap in second place three points behind Toni Bou. The fight was very close between the lead riders, Albert suffered in the second lap, doubling his first lap score and seeing second place escape him. He did however manage to hang on and finish in third place winning his third podium of the season (second consecutive), reducing the distance between himself and the rider preceding him in the overall standings, he now occupies fourth place.
Albert Cabestany: "This has been a very hard event because of the heat and the terrain. The fight among the lead riders was very close and any small failure can cause you to lose position. The second lap seemed more difficult because of the exhaustion and besides the sections were somewhat more difficult. The positive thing is that we fought for the victory to the end and that we were able to finish on the podium.”
