2025 Hawkstone International Report, Results and Photos
By Team TMX on 10th Feb 25

Around 15,000 enthusiastic fans made their way to Hawkstone Park for the 2025 Ashbrook Hawkstone International powered by Syntol. The track was deep and rutted and conditions were cold and damp but that didn’t stop some of the world’s fastest motocross racers from putting on a display of how an old-school sand circuit should be ridden.

Star performers on the day were Glenn Coldenhoff (Fantic Factory Racing), Mathis Valin (Kawasaki Racing Team) and Jamie Keith (JK Racing Yamaha) who topped the podium at the end of a long hard day.

Coldenhoff took the overall win in the MXGP class with a 2-1 scorecard ahead of Monster Energy Yamaha’s Maxime Renaux - who won moto two - and the consistent Romain Febvre (Kawasaki Racing Team). Pauls Jonass (Kawasaki Racing Team) and Monster Energy Yamaha teammates Jago Geert and Calvin Vlaanderen rounded out the top six while Josh Gilbert was the highest-performing Brit on his Lexa MX Honda finishing with a 9-9 scorecard in ninth overall.

Mathis Valin was head and shoulders ahead of the MX2 class taking the overall with a pair of wins ahead of Spain’s David Braceras (JM Honda) and Bradley Mesters (Kosak KTM). While the GP stars locked out the top three, speedy locals Ben Mustoe (ASA United GASGAS), Calum Mitchell (Worx Scaffolding Total Triumph) and Billy Askew (Dirt Store Triumph) fought for fourth overall and the title of best Brit on the day. Mustoe’s 4-8 took it from Mitchell’s consistent 7-6 while Askew had to be content with sixth overall with 12-4 finishes.

JK Yamaha’s Jamie Keith aced the EMX125 class taking three straight wins with Charlie Richmond (Yamaha) his closest challenger throughout the day. There was a four-way tie for the final podium position meaning it was decided by the result of the last race of the day which had to be re-run after the infamous Hawkstone hill became snarled up with stricken machines. A third place for Drew Stock (Madison/Goswell Ltd/Lifeline Yamaha) saw him bag the trophy over Hayden Statt (Mr Dig Groundworks Yamaha), Bulgaria’s Ventislav Toshov (AIT Fantic) and Freddie Gardiner (MGMX GASGAS).

The Super Final ended the day with the MX2 stars given more of a headstart than last year. Mathis Valin set the early pace but couldn’t hold off Coldenhoff who quickly worked his way through the field to rocket away for his second win of the day. Valin stayed close to The Hoff as he fought off KRT teammates Jonass and Febvre who finished third and fourth with Renaux fifth.
