Motocross

CLASSIC motorcycle sport fans poured into the International Exhibition Centre, Telford, in their thousands last weekend to make the most of the 2015 Putoline sponsored Classic Dirt Bike Show.

Formerly universally known as Wrighty's Show, Telford is now run under the Mortons banner and their expertise raised the level of an already established ‘go to' event.

As far as the bikes go there was something for everyone, no matter what your off-road discipline, with hundreds of classic trials and motocross models joined by grasstrack, longtrack and even an ice-racer in there complete with scarily long spikes in the tyres.

All eras were covered with vintage 1950s Dots and assorted scramblers mixing it with later BSAs, Triumphs and Cottons through to CCMs and Maicos, early air-cooled Japanese twin-shocks and on into the water-cooled EVO era.

Ditto for trials with earlier British models like James and Greeves shoulder to shoulder with Bultacos, Majesties and all kind of individual models.

And they were in every possible condition from immaculate, incredible show standard down through good solid rideable bikes through average to rough and, occasionally, frankly indescribeable condition.

There's always a bunch of hopeful sellers out in the early morning jumble looking to match up with optimists who can see past a rusting hulk and somehow envision a gleaming show model.

And good luck to both parties. One man's junk is another man's treasure.
